Concerts are private gatherings among friends — free to attend, by RSVP. If you'd like to support the artist, your donation goes straight to them. The venue takes nothing.

Two musicians, one living room, and an open door
Showcasing local live musical talent in a comfortable setting — that's the whole mission. Granite Shoals Studio is the home performance space of Myra Waldrop and Phil Hennen, a drummer and a multi-instrumentalist who would rather build a stage at home than chase one across town.
Myra Waldrop · drums
Myra was encouraged to learn the drums by her husband and a friend who started a band together in 2001. Since then, she and Phil have gone from looking for places to perform to building a performance space of their own at home. “At this studio we perform and have local musicians perform in a relaxed and accepting environment. We enjoy the feel of community we have developed and look forward to more music and time with friends.”
Phil Hennen · bass & keys
Phil grew up around music — piano lessons with his mother's help, then guitar as a teenager — and carried a quiet, personal love of playing through college, career, and family. Teaching his son renewed his focus, and moving to Fort Worth revealed something his hometown never had: a real community of working musicians, hobbyists, and people who show up for local live music.
What he didn't love was the bar scene — competitive, messy to book, and built around late nights. House concerts turned out to be the answer, and audiences and performers alike met them with enthusiasm. Along the way, Phil discovered Fort Worth's vibrant songwriter community. “The variety of stories and images portrayed by songwriters I find very compelling and satisfying. I believe it is an aspect of culture and art sorely needed in these times. I want to find ways to foster and promote these artists.”
All Together Now · the house band
Myra and Phil aren't just the hosts — they're a rhythm section. Their band, All Together Now, takes the Granite Shoals stage several times a year for themed shows: Halloween parties, Christmas and New Year's concerts, and a Beatles tribute among them.

A real concert in a real home. Granite Shoals Studio is a single-room performance space at our house in East Fort Worth, with a small stage, an in-house sound system, and seating in rows or at tables. It's a private gathering among friends where the music — not the bar, not the noise — is the whole point.
Email or call us and ask to join the list — that's it. Attendance is by invitation and RSVP because seating is limited. Once you RSVP for a show, we'll share the address and parking details.
No. Our concerts are free, private gatherings. Each show has a suggested donation for the performing artist — typically $20, or whatever feels right — and every dollar of it goes directly from you to the artist. The venue takes nothing, and no donation is ever required to attend.
In East Fort Worth, Texas, an easy drive from anywhere in the DFW metroplex. Because it's our home, we share the exact address when you RSVP rather than publishing it here. Parking is easy and free.
Doors usually open around half an hour before the music. Shows start early in the evening and wrap at a civilized hour — you'll be home at a reasonable time. Expect light refreshments, friendly faces, and an audience that actually listens.
Send us a booking inquiry with your dates, your music, and your setup. We reply within 3–4 days. We look for local musicians, small bands, ensembles, and especially singer-songwriters who want an intimate, attentive room.

No. Granite Shoals Studio is not a nonprofit and nothing here is tax-deductible. Artist donations are voluntary gifts that go directly from you to the performer; optional host contributions simply help cover electricity, refreshments, and stage equipment.
Usually yes — friends and potential friends are the whole idea. Just include them in your RSVP so we can be sure there's a seat for everyone.
